FOOD BANKS
A Food Bank supports people with a free emergency food parcel which contains three days’ worth of food. To access a Food Bank you need to be given a Food Bank Voucher. You can get a Food Bank Voucher from places who can support you with why you are accessing the Food Bank. For example, if you are homeless, you would speak to a homeless support agency, and they would give you a Food Bank Voucher.
Other people who issue you with a Food Bank Voucher are: Housing Officers, Citizens Advice, GPs and Primary Schools. Simply get in touch with them and explain you need support with Food.
Once you have a Food Bank Voucher, you have 3 days to use it at your nearest Food Bank. Below are your nearest Food Banks and their opening times over Christmas:

MOBILE FOOD PANTRIES
Food pantries are different to Food Banks – anyone can access them, and you don’t need to be in crisis to use them. The items of Food are different as they include fresh items such as fruit and vegetables The aim of a Food Pantry is to offer a more affordable way for people to shop regularly for Food. Choose 10 items plus your fruit & vegetables and an item of meat (or alternative) for £5.00.
Your nearest Mobile Food Pantry is open on Monday mornings at 10.30am – 12.00pm at Cross Lane United Church, Earlestown, Newton le Willows, WA12 9PT
The last pantry for 2024 in Newton is Monday 23rd December. The next one after that is Monday 6th January 2025.

DOMESTIC ABUSE WA12 FOOD SUPPORT
This is a small volunteer ran organisation who support those affected by domestic abuse. They also support people who need help with food or want to purchase more affordable food – which is open to anyone. They run two different projects:
WA12 Food Share is a Community based food project - they collect surplus foods from food venues that are too good to go in landfill and provide it to the Community at a low cost. Annual membership is £5.00 then £1.00 per visit to fill your bag.
They are based at 1A Haydock Street, Earlestown, WA12 9AB and are usually open:
Mondays – Fridays 10.30am -12.30pm and 9.15pm-9.45/10.00pm
Saturdays 9.00pm -10.00pm.
Sundays 5.00pm-6.00pm
Please note they have no spaces currently for new members but may still be able to help you with an emergency food parcel.
Please also note Foodshare is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day

An affordable Community Café serving freshly cooked breakfast and lunch at very affordable prices.

Kids eat free in School Holidays.
